Peregrinaje 2019 / On the Road 2019

At the beginning of 2019, I decided to make a career change. One of the first orders of business after leaving my job was to try to reconnect with some of the same passions, interests, and journeys that weighed heavy in my mind before I started working.

Over the course of 10 weeks, I took a long and winding journey starting in Cape Verde and ending at the southernmost city in the world in Chile. I learned a great deal about the places I visited, and a little bit more about myself.

I kept a rough journal of my time on this trip that I decided not to blog until after I returned. I didn’t want to break the experience of being there without reflecting on it, and I didn’t want to feel compelled to spend hours at my computer every day. What follows here will be a day-by-day report of my trip, a reflection on my experience, and hopefully an inspiration for others to take similar journeys.

Day 1: Boston to Cape Verde

Day 2: Cidade Velha, Europe’s first foray into the tropics

Day 3: Crying my way into Santo Antão
